Accessibility Statement
HSEL recognises the importance of providing a website that is accessible to everyone and easy to use. On this page we outline our ongoing commitment to making our online services accessible and explain the accessibility features of this site.
Accessibility features on this website
The following features have been introduced to improve navigation for screen reader users, keyboard navigation and users of text-only browsers.
Increasing the text size
We have used style sheets throughout, and users can increase or decrease the size of the text by using the browser ‘Text Size’ options in the ‘View’ menu
Other features
HTML heading tags are used to convey the document layout and make it simpler for screen readers to navigate using a list of headers. Navigation menus are marked up as HTML lists which ensures that the number of links in the list is read out at the start and also that they can be skipped easily.
Our pages are optimised to be viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and upwards.
We acknowledge the importance of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) of 1995, the World Wide Web Consortiums’ (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and Section 508 of the U.S.A Federal Electronic Rehabilitation Act all of which state that provision must be made to ensure that all products and services are accessible to disabled users.
At HSEL, we are committed to making our websites inclusive because accessibility has a positive effect on general usability and we believe that websites that are accessible and usable benefit and add value to everyone.
We will continue to review, test and modify our website for usability and accessibility issues and aim to ensure maintaining compliance is part of our ongoing commitment.
Standards compliance
Our pages conform to a minimum Level 1 (A) compliance as specified by the Web Content Accessibility guidelines. Where possible the majority of Level 2 (AA) and 3 (AAA) requirements are also met.
