21 Feb Private Event Venues At Harrow School
Harrow School offers a unique selection of venues perfect for special occasions. Whether you’re looking for a small intimate supper, for an extra special birthday, or a stunning outdoor terrace for your friends and family to enjoy a delightful afternoon tea, we have something to suit all occasions.
This blog post shines a light on six of Harrow’s wonderful venues, all of which can be privately hired for exclusive events:
Alex Fitch Room
The Alex Fitch Room is one of the most majestic venues at Harrow School and can be hired for private events or corporate dinners. Located in the War Memorial Building, the entire contents of the room are older than the building itself. This beautiful room was donated by the Fitch family in memory of their son Alex, an Old Harrovian, who died in the First World War.
The venue includes a large solid dining table placed in the centre of the room along with 20 grand, wooden chairs. The space is suited to private, intimate dinners for up to 20.
The Alex Fitch Room is located next door to The Old Harrovian Room and makes the perfect venue for a post dinner dessert station, a historic talk with one of our knowledgeable tour guides or a grand backdrop for family photographs.
Speech Room
For larger parties and events, Speech Room is a great option for your special day. Private hire of Speech Room also includes exclusive use of the War Memorial Building, a fantastic venue for arrival drinks receptions, guest books and cake tables.
If you are looking to host a formal, seated reception, Speech Room can accommodate 130 guests seated on 13 round tables of 10. If you were looking to incorporate a DJ or dance floor at your event, this is certainly possible following a short room transformation.
Our events team will plan and assist with your arrangements in the lead up and on the day of your private event, ensuring everything is organised and runs smoothly on the day.
Note – Speech Room is closed between March 2023 and October 2023.
Alcock Pavilion
Our collection of Cricket Pavilions offer the perfect backdrop for all types of family events. An event at the Alcock Pavilion is the perfect way to spend a summer’s afternoon. Gather your friends, family or colleagues in a picturesque location surrounded by open air.
If you’re looking to host a children’s birthday party in Harrow, the Alcock Pavilion is an affordable, black canvas venue with self-catering abilities. With vast amounts of green space, this setting is great for outdoor activities, bouncy castles, sports days and treasure hunts.
Field House Club
Located just outside of London, in a 300-acre leafy estate, Harrow School provides the perfect backdrop for a summer soiree, baby shower or family gathering. The Field House Club offers the ideal space for family celebrations and summer parties. The venue is located in the very heart of Harrow’s cricket grounds and has a wonderful outside terrace, which benefits from the best views of the first team pitch. The Field House Club can seat up to 14 guests but works equally well for standing receptions of up to 20.
Croquet on the lawn, BBQs, acoustic bands and innovative food stations are just some of the fun ideas that the events team can achieve at your private party. Harrow School Catering are the in-house caterer at Harrow School. Our excellent team of chefs cater for a large proportion of private events along with all top-end, School dinners. Harrow’s chefs are happy to work on special briefs and love designing new menus.
Old Harrovian Room
If your guest list looks like it may be slightly too large for our smaller venues, The Old Harrovian Room may be the ideal space for your private event. The Old Harrovian Room is Harrow School’s most popular venue for weddings, corporate receptions and private celebrations.
Located within the School’s War Memorial building, you are welcomed by two beautiful sweeping staircases leading up to the first floor. These steps meet with the opening of the Old Harrovian Room, a traditional and ‘typically Harrow’, venue.
While the central windows offer abundant natural light, the surrounding walls hold the portraits of the School’s former Head Masters. If you were to host a private dinner or formal reception in the Old Harrovian Room, the venue will be transformed into an elegant dining room with decorative touches of your choice. You and your guests can enjoy a fine dining experience through one of our accredited catering suppliers, each with unique and creative menus which will blow your guests away. As a dining room, the venue has a seated capacity of 80 guests. The venue can also be transformed post-dinner for dancing.
Fourth Form Room
The Fourth Form Room is the spiritual heart of Harrow School. The original classroom dates back to 1615 and is where Harrow School first opened its doors.
This venue is only available for the most exclusive of events. Your guests will be completely immersed in history as they are surrounded by the hand drawn graffiti of Harrow School’s famous ‘Giants of Old’. Where else can you experience a special occasion surrounded by the autographs and graffiti of Winston Churchill, Lord Byron, Sheridan and Peel?
All furniture in the Fourth Form Room is fixed and has been for nearly 400 years. The interior is extremely fragile, so it is only possible to achieve specific layouts. A dining table for 12 guests can be set up in the centre of this room.
